Maya is 3D computer animation software with powerful modelling, rendering, simulation, texturing and animation tools for vfx artists, modellers and animators. Maya helps artists tell their story with one fast, creative toolset.
When modeling your project in Maya, you will only be using one CPU core to create and design your models. We recommend going for a faster CPU at around 4.0GHz to get the best performance possible. Utopia offer free proline overclocking on all workstations, to boost your productivity.
3D Animation uses the exact same hardware configuration as 3D modeling in Maya, so a single fast core is just as beneficial when animating your models.
Maya is predominantly single core oriented, so building a workstation around multiple CPU cores is only recommended when you plan on using Maya for mostly rendering purposes. Alternatively, you can render your Maya jobs using GPU rendering technologies like Octane Render or NVIDIA Iray.
If a design and rendering workflow is required, we recommend using a dedicated dual Xeon system for rendering, and a faster i7 based workstations for design and modelling. With Maya’s integrated networked rendering solution, backburner, this is the ideal way to leap forward in terms of productivity.
